Gantt Planner User Manual

Welcome to Gantt Planner, a powerful and intuitive tool designed to help you visualize project timelines, manage tasks, and organize your workflow efficiently. This application runs entirely in your browser, ensuring your data remains private and accessible.

Getting Started

When you first open Gantt Planner, you will see a clean interface divided into two main areas:

  • Task List (Left): Where you define your tasks, assign owners, and set statuses.
  • Timeline (Right): A visual grid representing time periods where you can schedule tasks.

Tip: You can resize the width of the Task List by dragging the divider line between the list and the timeline.

Task Management

Adding & Editing Tasks

To add a new task, simply click the "Add Task" button located in the header or at the bottom of the task list. A new row will appear.

Editing: All text fields in the task list are editable. Click on a task name, owner, or status to start typing. Changes are saved automatically as you type or when you click away.

Organizing & Reordering

Gantt Planner supports drag-and-drop reordering. Look for the drag handle (six dots icon) on the far left of any task row. Click and hold to drag the task to a new position in the list.

You can also create a hierarchy of tasks (subtasks) to better organize complex projects.

Searching

Use the search bar in the header to filter tasks by name. The timeline will update to show only the matching tasks and their children.

Timeline & Periods

The timeline is the heart of your Gantt chart. It is divided into columns representing time periods (e.g., months, weeks, quarters).

  • Configuring Periods: Click the "Config Periods" button (calendar icon) to open the configuration modal. Here you can define the start date, end date, and label for each column.
  • Scheduling: Click on any cell in the timeline grid to toggle its status. Cells will change color to indicate activity during that period.
  • Color Coding: The colors used in the timeline correspond to the status or category of the task, helping you visualize progress at a glance.

Customization

Make the planner your own:

  • Project Title: Click on the project title or subtitle in the header to rename your project.
  • Columns: Use the "Columns" menu to show or hide specific data columns (e.g., Owner, Status) to reduce clutter.
  • Language: Switch between multiple languages using the language selector in the top right corner.

Import & Export

Your data is valuable. Gantt Planner offers several ways to save and share your work:
